Ok going to blog about stars camp 2006! the most meaningful camp i've been too! The camp was for the students in Metta school and i think the children are mentally disabled like they are hyperactive or autistic or have some learning disabilities.. hmm but after the camp i learnt that i shouldn't be treating them differently like discriminating them or sth.. dont really know how to put it in words ya...
Ok so day 1! first activity was intro and learning cheers.. had quite a difficult time cos they didnt really know the cheers and the tend to learn slower so had to have a lot of patience. Then the girls ( Veronica and Joyce) tended to be shier, and Guan Wu was also very shy.. then Jeremy i think he wanted to change groups cos he didnt like us :'( hmm luckily there was still the 4 malay guys (Rahman, Rizal, Azrin and Syafaat) who were quite enthu! After that was t-shirt making and banner painting.. had quite a difficult time with them cos i think they didnt really know how to use the fabric paint and how to design. And i was also half awake haha. But nevertheless we finished the shirts! Shifted the kids' bags to their dorms and i stepped into the guys level which was supposed to be barred to girls cos there were monks there or sth.. aiya but i really didnt know.. After that had lunch, vegetarian chicken rice! argh.. then had some sort of station games that involved spinning round a pole, biting an apple in a pail of water, dipping ur face into flour to find some sweets and finally rolling over some garbage bags.. haha i think our group finished last but i think they had fun and they even wanted to go again la! Then after that they bathed then we went to prepare props for our skit! Wahaha stupid lame plot thought up by the group leaders! Haha the kids came up with spiderman and green groberlar haha dunno whats that.. then we helped them to lengthen the plot.. included spiderman's girlfriend, some destroying of the town.. people dying that kind of stuff haha.. but whats most important is that one of the guys was really talented! Rahman! He drew out the face masks for spiderman and green groberlar!and sort of made spiderman's costume super talented!
After that was dinner, vegetarian again.. then we went to the NIGHT SAFARI!yeah! sat on the tram haha was sitting next to a super cute kid- Alfred! haha at first he wanted to sit by the side then he was so scared that the animals would bite him haha so in the end i sat by the side yeah superb view!saw alot of animals duh.. and the deer were super close! and alfred was funny he kept asking what we'll be doing later and whether i was scared or not and the funniest thing was that he said he forgot to brush his teeth then he remembered he brushed haha so i kept teasing him for the next 2 days haha. Then walked on the fishing cat trail and saw otters! I used to think otters were super cute but after that night i think they are quite erm disgusting. They were piling up on top of each other and wailing and the sight was simply disturbing haha. had supper then sleep! haha they slept not us.. had to bathe first.. in a toilet cubicle! not a shower cubicle! used hoses but i think the experience was quite interesting haha hmm then went to sleep and woke up at 4 am to do night duty! sat outside at first but then the girls kept waking up so had to accompany them to the toilets then try to make them go back to sleep..
hmm ok this is long enough. im tired. more tmr!
