Qun zi's birthday at bugis's some hk cafe place where they serve super huge teh-pengs to the birthday girl! too bad blogger won't let me upload the pics except this one..
attended like 4 birthday celebrations this recess week already. broke! but its nice catching up with everyone :) Had dinner today with phoebe, huiping, rathika, jean, hian yin, francesca to celebrate hian yin's birthday! it's been years since we've met up since graduating from sec school. I think we weren't really that close but it's still nice having dinner together, catching up with each others' lives, asking about other people etc. And like what phoebe said, it reminds me why i liked secondary school better than jc. its quite amazing that like some of us weren't from the same class and can still meet up and chat, although there were some silent moments of course. but it was still a great meetup! haha. its nice to see how our friends have grown up, from "demure and resolute" to really demure. or maybe its just a few of them. but ya, I think most of us are really growing up and maturing into ladies!

and today i visited saxon financials, some trip organised by the bnf club with yf and some other bnf people. haha. and cos i wanted to see trading so i went lor. I think real-life pit trading is super exciting and interesting. but its aggressive. and now its mostly electronics. sit and click button and feel adrenaline rush. haha. at least today I realised im not really interested in trading, I dont think I would want to sit and stare at the screens all day and constanly worry about market developments. and one mistake can cost thousands. woah. and partly cos the environment there is really male-dominated. I was quite intimidated when I walked in, because whoa, all males. ya, but doesnt mean females can't do the job as well as a guy. I dunno. but something came to me as I was walking home. The manager told us that the staff have a certain limit and initially they may be overconfident. For example, they may have bought positions in some products, as the prices increase, they're happy. When it starts to drop, ok maybe a little worried, but not too much because eventually they believe the prices will go back up because it used to be up before. But what if it continues dropping? Sell or hold in hopes it will increase again? For some, they may continue to hold on and suffer unrealized losses. The manager said that sometimes the staff can't see it themselves, as in they will keep hoping for the price to increase, but what if it never does? At this point, the manager or whoever in charge will step in and talk to the trader and advise him to sell. Or when he bursts his limit, alarm bells ring and the manager takes action.
Was just thinking that this behaviour of believing things will improve is quite a reflection of reality. Like in events that have already began to go downhill, one may continue hoping that oh, one day it'll go back to being as happy or the days will be as glorious as before. But will that happen? In trading, the manager and alarm bells act to pull you out, before you're burnt. But in real life, there's nobody to stop you. Only you can do it yourself, but to do it or not? That's another question.
Is this just market noise? or a significant trend?
haha. I'm being influenced too much by financial stuff. woo. madness. and finally a day to myself tmr! shall spend it on 307!
